What we do

Background

Bay Area Mural & Designs (BAMD) is a vision of Eric Rosales, which started in 2021. Eric while working for a nonprofit coordinating recreational activities for High School students in Mount Diablo Unified School District, was trying to figure out a way to better connect and promote his community. Being a local artist taking request’s to do paintings, logos and customizing shoes, thought of the idea of creating murals to better connect with youth. While working in the nonprofit, Eric began creating murals as side jobs on weekends as commissions from business owners as his skills from graphic design meshed with the style businesses were looking for, giving him opportunities.

Understanding the potential for connections during murals opened the avenues to counseling and social emotional learning. While working with the nonprofit, Eric gained a lot of experience with title 1 low income schools and understood the impact these murals do for these school’s pride and the students themselves. This then lead Eric to returning to School for a Master’s Degree for a PPS Credential for School Education as a counselor. Eric felt that as a youth, counselors and guiding figures saved his life. Being an at risk youth during adolescence, Eric gives credits to social worker counselor’s and sport coaches who empowered and inspired him socially & emotionally. Eric’s goal is to put his business into a positive use, use it to empower and connect with his communities youth and ultimately inspire them to find their spots in the world whether its college, entrepreneurship or vocational careers.

Eric’s portfolio stems of student lead mural workshops, to a dozen of commercial business murals, collaborating with big partners like John Muir Health, to creating many empowering and large School Designs. In 2024, BAMD partnered with Contra Costa Office of Education to create paid opportunities for youth to learn beside Eric during mural jobs at Schools and businesses, Eric’s goal is to branch off and lead his own Non Profit focused on connecting art’s therapeutic benefits with school communities and organizations.
